The Benefits of Cloud ERP For Manufacturing SMEs
The manufacturing industry has been through enough uncertainty over the last 12 months without having to worry about outdated or antiqued technology. But one thing the pandemic has highlighted is the importance of having the right systems in place to help stay resilient during tough times.
Cloud ERP is a proven way of helping organisations to manage the ebbs and flows that businesses experience. Manufacturing firms who have these systems in place are able to manage the health of their organisation, to minimise risk with accurate insight into key operations across the business, and to identify insights or trends that can help drive growth.
A recent report from IDC highlighted how cloud ERP systems are true business health enablers and a means to accelerate changes and navigate disruption. “Small and midsize businesses tend to feel disruptions quickly. Navigating volatility requires immediate insights into customer needs and cash management to stabilise the business. The right combination of technologies such as cloud, mobile, intelligent processes, and real-time insights can provide this view,” the report said.
Improving margins are always top the agenda for CEOs and MDs. Manufacturing firms of all size and types, regardless of speciality, aim to increase outputs and reduce wastage to boost their bottom line. Cloud ERP systems are a key driver in helping to realise these targets.
The report adds that by moving away from disparate or legacy systems and working with a fully integrated system that organisations “can better understand its cash position in real time and anticipate monetary needs before they arise. Cloud ERP systems can be connected from customer demand to operations and from order fulfilment to post-sales support.”
During the early adoption of cloud computing, organisations were concerned about moving their data away from behind an internal firewall and onto a virtual server. But those fears have quickly been removed as we have gradually moved more of our professional and personal lives into the cloud.
Compliance and maintaining industry standards has always been of importance to manufacturing companies. Not only does cloud ERP help to improve productivity and the efficiency of workers, but it’s also a secure environment to keep your data out of harm’s reach.
“Cloud ERP provides secure access to the data that employees need while protecting sensitive data. Maintaining data privacy means a company can meet regulatory and compliance requirements, keeping the business healthy,” the report concludes.
